STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

            Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for December. The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

            Olivia Winheld, daughter of Lisa and Jeffrey Winheld, Weatherly, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  She is a Principal’s Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, and is in the Board Game Club.
            Olivia is a member of the Weatherly Youth Biddy Basketball League, Weatherly Youth Softball League, and the Greater Hazleton Soccer Association.  She helps clean her grandma's house, volunteers her time at the Weatherly Pound, and helps with Eurana Park clean-ups.
            Olivia is a member of Salem U.C.C. where she attends Bible School and Sunday school where she collects and donates canned food.

            Catherine Strizak, daughter of Patti Strizak and Mark Strizak, both of Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a First Honor student, a member of the middle school band and chorus, is on the Weatherly Jr. High Girls Basketball Team, and is also a Weatherly Jr. High Cheerleader. She is a homeroom representative for student council.
            Catherine is a member of the Weatherly Youth Softball League. 
            Catherine is a member of St. Peter & Paul's Church in Hazleton where she is an acolyte.

            Andrew Oross, son of Roxanne and John Oross, White Haven, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.  He is a member of the middle school band.
            Andrew is a member of the White Haven Little League and Reading Programs.
             Andrew is a member of St. Patrick's Church in White Haven where he participates in Octoberfest.
